The interior market is also warming up as home transactions recover, especially in older apartments outside the Seoul metropolitan area.
However, high interest rates and rising construction costs are making full-scale remodeling more burdensome. As a result, selectively improving only the spaces that need work, rather than renovating an entire home, is emerging as a new trend known as partial remodeling.
According to the industry, demand for interior work is picking up as more buyers are purchasing older homes for actual residence.
In particular, as more consumers prioritize cost efficiency, demand is growing for partial renovations centered on spaces that directly affect daily satisfaction, such as living rooms and kitchens.
According to a survey conducted last month on HomeCC's official Instagram account by KCC Glass's interior brand, 33.1% of the 801 respondents, or 265 people, chose the living room as the space they most wanted to remodel.
The kitchen followed at 32.6%, or 261 respondents, confirming strong preference for the two spaces.
In step with these market changes, building materials and interior companies are also rolling out more partial renovation products.
HomeCC recently launched a curated installation product called the HomeCC Space Package, which allows customers to choose only the spaces they want to renovate.
The package is designed to let customers select only the needed areas from five spaces — the entryway, living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom — while lowering the cost burden compared with a full remodel.
The product was developed based on KCC Glass's accumulated know-how in its building materials business. It also reflects the latest interior trends seen in newly built apartments.
As a result, even consumers with little interior design experience can create a polished space with relative ease.
The living room and kitchen packages, in particular, include differentiated features tailored to consumer preferences.
For the living room, customers can choose flooring options suited to family composition and lifestyle, including the stone-design engineered flooring 'Ssup Hardwood Stone' and the pet-friendly PVC flooring 'Ssup Dodam.'
The kitchen is designed to improve storage efficiency and space utilization with features such as a cabinet for robot vacuums and a double-opening corner cabinet.
Industry watchers say that as more older homes change hands and the interior market recovers, demand for partial remodeling that reduces costs while improving satisfaction is likely to continue expanding.
