KBS's new variety show 'Happy Together: Glad Not to Be Alone,' which premieres on July 10, is a storytelling music audition in which Yoo Jae-suk, who listens to people, Jang Hang-jun, who listens to stories, and Yoon Jong-shin, who listens to music, pay attention to the narratives and harmonies of a variety of 'life teammates.' The program marks the return of 'Happy Together,' which ran for 20 years from 2001 to 2020 and became known as the foundation of KBS variety shows, after a six-year hiatus.
The episode 0 video, 'The Man Who Lives with Happy Together, First Look at the Three Men with Thick Glasses,' released on the 13th, surpassed 800,000 views within two days and drew attention. Amid the buzz, Yoo Jae-suk stepped forward as the head of the committee pushing for the establishment of the 'Jang Hang-jun Hall.'
Yoo Jae-suk said, "Theaters came back to life after the film 'The King's Warden.' At this point, we need a Jang Hang-jun Hall." He then launched into a full-scale push to hype up Jang Hang-jun, adding, "How about 'The Jang Hang-jun Hall'?" and even came up with the name on the spot. Jang Hang-jun went one step further, joking, "That hall should only screen movies with bad CGI," and suggested the operating rule for a theater named after him, drawing laughter. He turned the much-talked-about 'Tiger CGI' into self-deprecating humor.
Yoon Jong-shin added fuel to the fire by bringing up the famous scene that caused confusion about the genre, saying, "When I saw the tiger CGI at the preview screening, I thought, 'Oh, it's a comedy.' Later, I thought King Danjong was the funny one." In response, Jang Hang-jun expressed regret, saying, "It was because the release date was moved up," and Yoo Jae-suk playfully moved to soothe the 'master director,' saying, "But it worked out well, didn't it?" Flattered by Yoo Jae-suk's praise, Jang Hang-jun boasted about his own eye for casting, saying, "Casting Yoo Ji-tae as Han Myeong-hoe was innovative. Casting is part of directing too," leaving his two close friends in stitches. Their nonstop banter as close friends has already raised expectations for the first broadcast of 'Happy Together,' which will showcase the chemistry of Yoo Jae-suk, Jang Hang-jun, and Yoon Jong-shin.
Meanwhile, KBS2's new variety show 'Happy Together' will premiere on July 10 at 8:30 p.m.
