[Sportschosun Kim Soo-hyun] Singer Kim Jong-kook shared how an unexpected change in family terms left him with the title of "grandfather."
On the KBS 2TV program "Problem Child in House" aired on the 28th, singers Son Tae-jin and Park Ji-hyun appeared together as guests and showed off their candid wit.
The broadcast also revealed Son Tae-jin's special family ties with trot legend Sim Soo-bong. Son Tae-jin said Sim Soo-bong is his great-aunt and explained, "She is more than 20 years younger than my grandmother. She is about the same age as my father, so we have been very close since I was young."
He also said Sim Soo-bong's daughter was only one year older than him, making them very close as well. He added, "Even though she is my aunt, we were so close that I called her noona from a young age. We visited each other's homes often and stayed close."
However, Son Tae-jin said he does not currently call Sim Soo-bong "grandmother." He laughed as he explained, "By family relation, she is my grandmother, but my great-aunt is so youthful that she said, 'It sounds strange to be called a grandmother at this age,' so now I call her 'my grandmother.'"
Kim Jong-kook also related to the story by mentioning his own real-life family situation. He confessed, "I have something like that too because of the family register. I have an older nephew, and when he got married and had a child, I became a grandfather."
Kim Jong-kook went on to say, "So I don't see that nephew. I still haven't seen him. Even though he is a very close nephew, I still don't see him," revealing his honest discomfort with the title of "grandfather." The cast burst into laughter, turning the studio into a sea of smiles.
Meanwhile, Kim Jong-kook tied the knot with a non-celebrity woman last September after a long career in the entertainment industry. The wedding was held in complete secrecy and drew much attention and congratulations.
