Sweet Sorrow on Sung Jin-hwan's Departure: "We Were Shocked and Lost Two Years, So We Gave Up on Bringing in a New Member"

[Sportschosun Lee Woo-joo] Sweet Sorrow, from the show "Knowing Sister-in-law," explained why the group had a long break from activities.

On the 10th, K.Will's YouTube channel uploaded a video titled "A gathering of people famous for being great at singing wedding songs, but unable to get married themselves."

Song Woojin looked back on Sweet Sorrow's past 10 years, saying, "Looking back, there were many frightening moments and many sad moments. The past 10 years were like that."

K.Will then asked about Sung Jin-hwan's departure, saying, "Was it in 2017 that the group was reorganized into a trio?" In Ho-jin replied, "We held a concert in 2017 and waited until the end of that year. In 2018, he said he could not continue, and we were shocked and needed some time. That made one or two years disappear. Then 2019 came, and COVID-19 hit."

K.Will asked whether they had considered bringing in a new member, and In Ho-jin said, "We heard that suggestion a lot."

Kim Young Woo said, "But it was never something we seriously thought, 'Shouldn't we do it?' When the three of us heard those comments, we would just say, 'Right,' and move on."

Song Woojin said, "What made it hard to even imagine was that, musically, you can easily picture how one more person could complete a song and make the sound richer. But in group life, there are other things that have to be aligned too. You have to compromise, and even your basic personalities have to fit."

In Ho-jin also explained why they gave up on recruiting a new member, saying, "If we brought someone new in, that would mean a contract. But we are not in a contractual relationship. It was a contract, but not a contract relationship. If we added someone new, we would have to sign a contract, meet often, and rehearse together frequently. It would feel more like having a featured guest than a new member."
