[Sportschosun Kim So-hee reporter] Actors Kim Moo-yul and Lee Sung-min revealed the hidden effort behind Jin Ki-joo's performance in the Netflix series "Teach You a Lesson."
On the 10th, a video titled "Teach You a Lesson, Episode 2. If you want to know about the making, gather at the club!" was uploaded to the YouTube channel "Netflix South Korea." In the video, Kim Moo-yul, who plays Na Hwa-jin, and Lee Sung-min, who plays Choi Kang-seok, shared behind-the-scenes stories about the series.
That day, Jonathan pointed to one memorable scene and said, "Im Han-rim (Jin Ki-joo) changes from a teacher to an Educational Protection Bureau inspector," adding, "Her way of speaking suddenly changed completely."
Lee Sung-min responded, "I understand that Jin Ki-joo studied the speech patterns of female instructors in real life." He explained that she carried out detailed research to bring out the character's identity as an Educational Protection Bureau inspector.
Kim Moo-yul also praised Jin Ki-joo's effort. He said, "During the table read, the senior actors gave a lot of ideas," and added, "Jin Ki-joo accepted them all, and she also thought things through on her own and did her own research to build the character."
Behind the scenes of Jin Ki-joo's changed voice tone was also revealed. When Lee Sung-min said, "I heard she also did voice training," Kim Moo-yul laughed and said, "Jin Ki-joo asked me, 'Is my voice always this loud?'"
He then added, "For the role, she even went to a separate teacher and practiced vocal projection." The explanation drew attention because it showed that she did not stop at changing her speaking style, but also studied the voice and delivery that fit the character.
Fans who heard this reacted by saying, "She's definitely an actress who works hard," "So that's why her speech sounded different," "Jin Ki-joo's acting immersion was incredible," and "You can tell she prepared every detail."
Meanwhile, the Netflix series "Teach You a Lesson" deals with the collapse of teachers' authority and various problems inside schools, and it has been drawing strong attention since its release. In particular, it ranked No. 1 on Netflix Global Top 10 Non-English TV Shows just three days after release, attracting interest from viewers around the world as well as in Korea.
