[Sportschosun Lee Woo-joo] Han Da-gam on 'The Return of Superman' revealed the gender of her baby.
The June 10 episode of the KBS2 variety show 'The Return of Superman' showed the daily life of Han Da-gam, the oldest expectant mother at 47.
Han Da-gam, who has become an icon of hope as the oldest expectant mother in the entertainment industry, said she started thinking about pregnancy at 44 and prepared diligently for two to three years. She added that she became pregnant at 47 after her first IVF attempt.
She also said she managed her diet carefully to improve her chances of conceiving. "For two to three years, I went to mountains all over the country," she said.
On the long-awaited gender reveal day, Han Da-gam’s baby was a boy. After hearing her son’s heartbeat, she was moved by its strong sound. After the ultrasound, she told her husband, "The teacher said (Ttukttak) is handsome. They said his features could not be any more distinct."
She then visited a spacious hanok (traditional Korean house) mansion. It turned out to be her parents’ home, where she had lived until her marriage. The house had been built by her maternal uncle, who is a Hanok architect. It even had a jjimjilbang for Han Da-gam, drawing attention.
Explaining why she came to her parents’ home, Han Da-gam said, "Now that the gender is out, I came here to finally reveal it to my mom and dad."
Seeing her after a long time, her father asked, "What do you want to eat?" Han Da-gam mentioned braised short ribs, bossam, and jokbal. Her father then surprised her by saying, "Then it’s a boy."
Before the reveal, Han Da-gam asked her parents to guess the baby’s gender. Her father said he had dreamed of a son the night before. "In my dream, a big black snake appeared. It was the same kind of black snake I saw in front of my grandmother’s house long ago," he said, predicting a boy.
The result was a boy. Seeing her parents happy regardless of the gender, Han Da-gam said she felt as if she had repaid them once again through her filial devotion.
