[Sportschosun, Reporter Kim Jun-seok] Singer and actress Choi Soo-young will make her first public appearance since confirming her breakup with actor Jung Kyung-ho.
Choi Soo-young will attend the 12th Eoullim Marathon: Running with the Visually Impaired, which will be held on the morning of the 13th at Peace Plaza, World Cup Park in Mapo District, Seoul.
The event brings visually impaired and sighted participants together to run and connect. All proceeds will be used to improve welfare for the visually impaired.
In particular, the schedule is drawing attention as it will be her first official event meeting fans since news of her breakup with Jung Kyung-ho became known on the 9th.
Choi Soo-young is expected to add meaning to the event by running the marathon course herself with the participants. She is also widely known in the entertainment industry as a star who has long supported charitable work for the visually impaired and people with hereditary retinal disease.
Previously, Choi Soo-young revealed that her father has been battling Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), a rare eye disease, for more than 15 years. She later served consistently as a public ambassador for the National Headquarters for the Campaign Against Blindness and donated 300 million won in 2023 to support research into treatments for blinding diseases, continuing to make a positive impact.
Meanwhile, on the 9th, the agencies of both Choi Soo-young and Jung Kyung-ho officially confirmed their breakup, saying, "The two recently ended their romantic relationship and decided to remain good colleagues."
The two, who became a couple in 2012 and acknowledged their relationship in 2014, were widely loved as one of the entertainment industry's longest-running public couples, maintaining a public romance for about 14 years. However, they are said to have naturally ended the relationship amid busy schedules.
After her breakup, Choi Soo-young will also continue her acting career by taking the stage as Portia in The Merchant of Venice, which opens on July 8.
