[Sportschosun reporter Jo Yoon-sun] Actor Kim Mu-yeol revealed behind-the-scenes stories from filming with child actors, saying it was even more difficult than action scenes.
On the 10th, Netflix's official YouTube channel released a video titled "[Hong. Geon. De] Teach You a Lesson Part 2: Which Scene Did Kim Mu-yeol Say Was Harder Than Action? | We Came to Promote Teach You a Lesson, After All."
In the video, Kim Mu-yeol looked back on filming the elementary school scenes in the drama "Teach You a Lesson." He said, "Filming was really hard. The child actors were so skilled and excellent that whenever they felt something or wanted to do something while acting, they had to do it."
He then shared a behind-the-scenes story from the cafeteria scene. Kim Mu-yeol explained, "It was a scene where I was directing everyone while they ate together in the cafeteria. The direction was just one line: 'Please give me cherry tomatoes.' But one child went to the director and said, 'I don't like cherry tomatoes.' So I said, 'Then you don't have to eat them. You don't have to ask for them,' and as soon as filming started, he immediately said, 'I don't like cherry tomatoes.'"
He added, "So I ad-libbed, 'Then give them to the teacher.' Then all the other kids followed along. They said, 'I don't want to eat them' and 'I'm not going to eat them,' and gave me all the cherry tomatoes, so suddenly my hands were full of them." Lee Sung-min laughed and said, "That's how little kids are. Once one person says something, they all do it."
The filming footage released along with the video also showed Kim Mu-yeol's cheerful chemistry with the children. Before filming, when the kids asked, "If you fought our taekwondo gym owner, who would win?" Kim Mu-yeol confidently replied, "I would." When they asked, "Teacher, you're Kim Mu-yeol, right?" he answered, "No," drawing laughter.
Kim Mu-yeol also looked exhausted by the passion of the child actors, who gave their all even during rehearsals. Watching the director guide the children with a megaphone, he said, "The director's voice got so hoarse that he eventually had to bring out the megaphone."
Yoo Byung-jae said, "They were so pretty, cute, and lovable, but it probably wasn't easier than the other action scenes," and Kim Mu-yeol laughed, saying, "Children just live that way, reacting instantly all the time."
When Jonathan asked, "You ad-libbed, 'You're Kim Mu-yeol, right?' so why didn't you go along with it?" Kim Mu-yeol explained, "That had nothing to do with acting. It was a scene where the camera was on the back of my head, so my mouth wasn't visible. If the kids were quiet, I would say, 'Kids, play around. You can make noise now,' and then they would suddenly start saying things like that." He then admitted, "Once I start answering, it never ends," sending everyone into laughter.
