[Sportschosun Jo Min-jung] Yeong-cheol from 'I'm Solo' Season 32 has come under fire for appearing heavily intoxicated on the first night, and his younger sister has spoken out directly.
A lengthy post, reportedly written by Yeong-cheol's sister, has recently spread across online communities. The writer, who identified herself as his sister, began cautiously, saying, "I really struggled with whether it was right to post this."
She said, "After the broadcast, I saw many people's reactions, and as a family member, I felt compelled to write this with a heavy heart." She added, "First, I sincerely apologize to those who felt uncomfortable while watching the show. I also felt disappointed by some parts of the broadcast, and my brother was very shocked and is reflecting on his behavior."
The sister emphasized that Yeong-cheol has been reflecting on himself since the broadcast. She explained, "Through this opportunity, he realized aspects of himself he had not known before, and he said he would correct any problematic behavior and make sure not to create the same situation again."
She also shared what she found painful as a family member. The writer said, "It hurt to see one person's entire life being judged based on just a few scenes from the broadcast." She wrote, "After losing his wife first, my brother raised two children on his own and lived an ordinary life while working in education." She continued, "He is not a perfect person. He has shortcomings and has made mistakes." Still, she stressed, "This is not a post meant to make excuses or deny wrongdoing. I only hope people will also understand the person as seen by his family." She especially added, "Above all, I carefully ask that this not cause further pain to his young nieces and nephews."
In the episode of SBS Plus and ENA's 'I'm Solo' aired on the 10th, Yeong-cheol from Season 32 was shown drinking heavily at a gathering and making inappropriate remarks to the cast. After the first impression selection, he openly showed interest in Young-ja, and as the drinking continued, he repeatedly said the same things to the other participants and even spilled his glass, showing signs of intoxication.
Right after the broadcast, viewers reacted strongly online, with some criticizing his drinking and behavior as excessive.
Meanwhile, Yeong-cheol had previously drawn sympathy from viewers after revealing on the show that he was raising his children alone following the death of his wife.
'I'm Solo' airs every Wednesday at 10:30 p.m.
