Yoo Jae-suk, the nation’s MC who has won 21 grand prizes, still gets shaken: "I swing between highs and lows every week. I just pretend I don’t"

[Sportschosun reporter Cho Yoon-sun] Yoo Jae-suk said candidly that even after winning 21 grand prize trophies, he still feels unsettled by his weekly broadcast results.

That day, Yoo mentioned Zico, the producer of BOYNEXTDOOR, and said, "He must be proud." The members then boasted, "We once appeared at an awards ceremony with him last year, and he received the Best Producer Award then."

They added, "PD Zico said, 'I think today is the happiest moment since I made you guys.'" They also drew laughter by revealing, "He always tells us, 'Don't get too hung up on trophies' and 'Don't obsess over results,' but when we win an award, he's the first one to get excited and ask to take photos."

After hearing that, Yoo agreed, saying, "I try hard to tell myself not to be shaken by things like that. They are the result of our efforts, so we shouldn't get too attached to them, but it's impossible not to be affected."

When asked whether he still gets shaken despite winning so many grand prizes, he honestly replied, "I get shaken every week. I swing between highs and lows every week." He continued, "When we work with the production team, we ask, 'Why isn't this working?' and struggle over it when things go badly, and we celebrate when things go well. We just pretend otherwise, but everyone is bound to feel that way."

He added, "If something keeps failing, we need to find out why it is failing and what mistakes we made. That is how we improve."

Meanwhile, Yoo Jae-suk is a national MC who represents South Korea’s entertainment industry. Last year, he won the grand prize at the MBC Entertainment Awards, setting an unprecedented record with 21 grand prizes in his career.
