Lee Mi-sook Shares Stories from Her Nightclub Days 40 Years Ago... "When Curfew Hit, We Danced Until 4 a.m."

[Sportschosun Kim Jun-seok] Actress Lee Mi-sook stirred up nostalgia by revealing behind-the-scenes stories from the height of her fame in the past.

On the 12th, a video titled "Went to a club after filming? Lee Mi-sook spills disco stories from those days" was uploaded to the YouTube channel Sookseureoun Misookssi.

That day, Lee Mi-sook went on a historical tour of Namhansanseong and spoke candidly about her acting career and memories from her youth.

Recalling film sets from the past, Lee Mi-sook said, "It was a time when the system was not yet in place, so actors had to manage everything themselves and fight fiercely with the director."

She added, "Back then, we worked so hard that it was hard to even find an actor who was awake on set."

What drew the most attention was her story about her nightclub days.

She recalled, "In the old days, when there was a curfew, the curfew siren would sound at midnight. Then the nightclub would close, and when the curfew was lifted at 4 a.m., we would come out."

Lee Mi-sook added, "I had no money, so I couldn't sit around. I kept dancing until the end of the stage set."

She also gave a vivid explanation of disco culture at the time.

Lee Mi-sook said, "We didn't hold hands like that back then. While dancing disco, if you thought, 'That person seems nice,' you would move behind them and keep dancing. Men and women would clap once, and if they liked each other, they would dance together and even move on to a slow dance," drawing laughter.

She also continued her candid remarks, saying, "Rather than looking forward, we showed a lot of our backs. It was an era when people kept dancing backward."

Lee Mi-sook also recalled her packed schedule.

She said, "Back then, I worked around the clock. We were mainly doing films and dramas, so it was really hard." She added, "I changed clothes in the car, hung my clothes on one side of the sedan, and slept covered in those clothes."
