[Sportschosun Joon-seok Kim] Football player Ki Sung-yueng showed his devoted-dad side after meeting aespa members Karina and Winter at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
On the 13th, the YouTube channel Shoot for Love released a video titled, "What did Lee Kang-in say when he came to find Ki Sung-yueng right before the match?"
In the video, Ki Sung-yueng visited the stadium in Mexico to cheer on the South Korea national football team.
As he looked around the stadium and greeted familiar faces, including KBS football commentator Lee Young-pyo, he spotted aespa members Karina and Winter in the stands after their performance at the FIFA World Cup Opening Ceremony.
When he saw the two, Ki Sung-yueng stopped in his tracks and hesitated for a while, saying, "Shi-on will like this."
He then approached carefully and asked, "Could I take a photo?" When Karina and Winter readily agreed, he pulled out his phone and took a selfie.
Even after the photo, Ki Sung-yueng could not hide his smile, saying, "This is amazing. I think Shi-on will be so happy."
His willingness to gather the courage to ask the aespa members for a photo for his daughter warmed hearts.
Viewers who watched the video reacted with comments such as, "Ki Sung-yueng really is a daughter-obsessed dad after all," "It is so cute how he was thinking about Shi-on," and "It was nice to see Karina and Winter happily take the photo."
Meanwhile, Ki Sung-yueng married actress Han Hye-jin in 2013 and has a daughter, Ki Shi-on, born in 2015.
He is currently playing for Pohang Steelers in the K League and met fans at the World Cup by cheering for the national team on site.
