Lee Yong-sik Prepares a Grand First-Birthday Party for His Granddaughter: "I'm Sorry I Couldn't Show My Daughter Enough Love" ('Joseon's Lover')

[Sportschosun Cho Yoon-sun] Comedian Lee Yong-sik went all out to prepare a first-birthday party for his only granddaughter.

In a preview clip for TV Chosun's 'Joseon's Lover' set to air on Monday the 15th, the first-birthday celebration for Lee Yong-sik's granddaughter, whom he has accompanied through his only daughter's marriage, honeymoon, and childbirth, will be revealed in full.

At the party, Lee Yong-sik read a letter he had written to his granddaughter. With tears in his eyes, he said, "From now on, I will pour all my love into my granddaughter, and I will give even my life for her."

In an interview with the production team, Lee Yong-sik said, "My granddaughter, born to my only daughter, my one and only grandchild... I want to give her everything I have," expressing his determination as a devoted grandfather. He also looked back on the past, saying, "When my daughter Soo-min was young, we did not spend much time together. I left for work while she was asleep, and came home after she had already gone to bed."

Finally, Lee Yong-sik said, "I feel so sorry that I could not show her enough love back then. I want to make sure I spend much more time with my granddaughter. I worked hard to create a first-birthday party with no regrets," revealing his deep affection for his granddaughter.

Meanwhile, Lee Yong-sik welcomed his precious only daughter, Lee Soo-min, after eight years of marriage. However, he narrowly survived a life-threatening collapse from myocardial infarction (MI) in 1997, and a video of young Lee Soo-min praying for her father as he was taken into the operating room also drew attention. Lee Soo-min gave birth to a daughter, Lee El, last year with singer Won Hyuk, who appeared on 'Mr. Trot 2,' drawing congratulations from many.

The heartwarming first-birthday celebration and Lee Yong-sik's tearful confession will be aired on TV Chosun's reality documentary entertainment show 'Joseon's Lover' at 10 p.m. on June 15.
