[Sportschosun Park Ara-m] Kim Go-eun, a broadcaster known as the daughter of former national soccer player Kim Hyun-soo, opened up about the emotional burden she faced while building her broadcasting career and her honest feelings toward her family.
Kim recently appeared on her YouTube channel and shared footage of a counseling session with a psychiatrist. She admitted that there was a period when malicious comments and public scrutiny after her TV appearances badly shook her confidence.
Above all, she said her father was deeply worried. Kim Hyun-soo, who experienced the other side of fame firsthand during his career as a national soccer player, was reportedly not enthusiastic about his daughter's TV appearances. Kim Go-eun explained, "My father said that once you become famous, there are more things to deal with than the things you gain," adding that his concern came from wanting to protect her.
In the end, however, her father respected her choice and became a reliable supporter. Kim Go-eun recalled having drinks with her father before appearing on a variety show and said, "He thought I was going on 'I Am Solo' instead of 'Single's Inferno,' so he watched the program closely and gave me advice," drawing laughter.
After her broadcast appearances, Kim Go-eun said she was hurt by comments questioning her sincerity, and that severe stress even led to stomach cramps and sleep disorders. The specialist analyzed that she tends to be overly conscious of how others see her and to suppress her emotions.
Kim Go-eun also revealed a strong sense of responsibility toward her parents and younger sibling. She said, "I want to repay the love I received from my family," expressing her desire to support them both financially and emotionally.
Both of her parents are now cheering her on in her broadcasting career. Her father, who was once the most worried of all, is also said to be backing her as he watches her take on new challenges.
Kim Go-eun, who was selected as Miss Korea at The 66th Miss Korea Pageant in 2022, later gained public attention through Single's Inferno 5.
