[Sportschosun Jo Min-jung] Creator Shin Sajang, who has 2.29 million subscribers, has come out as a lesbian and recently revealed that she is currently dating a girlfriend, along with an update on her life.
On the 16th, a Q&A video was posted on Shin Sajang's official YouTube channel, sharing the background behind her decision to come out and how she has felt since then.
In the video, Shin Sajang spoke candidly about why she had kept her sexual orientation private for so long. She said that although she had continued her creator career, personal circumstances had prevented her from revealing her identity. But with her 35th birthday coming next year, she no longer wanted to keep hiding or live by deceiving herself. She also said she became aware of her orientation in middle school and was outed against her will in high school.
She also answered calmly the relationship questions that drew the most attention. Shin Sajang said she is currently dating a girlfriend and confirmed that she is in a relationship.
However, she said she would not share specific details because her girlfriend is a private individual. She said, "I'm a creator, but my girlfriend is not a public figure," adding, "For privacy reasons, I think it would be better not to go into detail."
She also responded directly to questions some fans had been curious about. Referring to a photo posted on her personal SNS, Shin Sajang confirmed, "The person I took the photo with is my girlfriend." She added, "My girlfriend doesn't mind appearing in videos, but for now I want to appear in content alone," and explained, "She may appear only from behind during filming."
Shin Sajang also said she has been feeling much more at ease since coming out. She said she hopes her story can give a little courage to others living with similar concerns, and added that she will continue her activities while communicating honestly with those who support her.
