Heo Nam-joon Was Cast at an Apartment Construction Site Too: "They Said I Looked Like I Could Carry Bricks Well"

[Sportschosun Jo Yoon-sun] Actor Heo Nam-joon shared an anecdote about being offered a casting opportunity at a construction site.

On the 18th, tvN (Total Variety Network)'s "You Quiz on the Block" released a teaser featuring Heo Nam-joon, who appears in the drama "Brave New World."

In the teaser, Heo Nam-joon talked about his past part-time jobs at a hof pub, a department store, and a shoe shop, among others. He also said that while working at a construction site, he was once approached by a site manager with a casting offer.

Yoo Jae-suk said, "I heard the site manager told you, 'You look like you could carry bricks well,' and asked you to come straight to the site. They say you helped build several apartment buildings."

Heo Nam-joon admitted, "He once said, 'What's your number? If you go to another site, I'll call you.'" Yoo Jae-suk burst out laughing and said, "You must have been adored a lot."

Heo Nam-joon, who is drawing attention as a new "rom-com master" through "Brave New World," also mentioned his playful chemistry with Lim Ji-yeon. He said, "When the director calls cut, Lim Ji-yeon says, 'Hey, try to look a little cooler.' Then I say, 'I'm doing my best right now, you know?'" He described their chemistry with a lighthearted smile.

Earlier, Lim Ji-yeon had appeared on "You Quiz on the Block" and expressed her deep affection for Heo Nam-joon. She said, "I thought rom-coms were all about whether the male lead has charming gestures, or whether his face looks really handsome or sexy." She added, "Since World has to live for Seori to live, we always said, 'I gave up backlighting. Do you realize you're getting all the lighting? You have to look handsome no matter what.'"

She continued, "In rom-coms, the chemistry between the man and the woman is important. Both of them need to look appealing for the drama to work, so I hoped that would come through well." She added, "Nam-joon is such a charming actor, and I hoped that would be captured well in our drama."

She also said, "Of course, it would be great if the chemistry is good in every project, but I don't think that is always possible. Meeting Heo Nam-joon and finding a partner I could communicate with without hesitation felt like a miracle."

She went on to say, "I had a lot of screen time, and there were many moments when the pressure wore me down physically and mentally. Every time, he encouraged me like a vitamin. Even though I was the senior, I relied on him a lot. While filming, I kept thinking how lucky I was that World was Nam-joon." She expressed her gratitude.
