[Sportschosun Lee Ji-hyun] Influencer Choi Jun-hee opened up about the severe emotional distress she suffered before her wedding amid controversy.
On the 18th, a video titled "I was tired of blind tests, so I showed up myself" was uploaded to the YouTube channel "Jun-hee." In the video, Choi Jun-hee visited a shaman in person and had her fortune told ahead of her wedding.
In the video, Choi said she had recently been under intense emotional strain because of various controversies and malicious content surrounding her. She confessed, "While preparing for my wedding this time, I could barely go outside for about a month and couldn't even use Instagram because of all the rumors, articles, and cyber wreckers."
She added, "This year, I was even told I might have developed panic disorder," and shocked viewers by saying, "I really thought that if I couldn't keep going as an influencer and couldn't endure the criticism anymore, I might drive off somewhere and kill myself."
The shaman comforted Choi Jun-hee, saying, "You must never do that. Your mother would say, 'Why would you do that to such a precious body?'"
Choi Jun-hee married a non-celebrity man 11 years her senior in May. But after the wedding announcement, rumors about her husband's identity and many stories about her maternal grandmother, with whom she has reportedly had conflicts over property issues, spread widely. On the wedding day, however, many of the controversies were put to rest when her maternal grandmother sat in the family seating area.
The shaman also spoke about why Choi Jun-hee developed such a strong personality. She said, "She was not originally this strong," adding, "She grew thorns like a cactus to protect herself." She went on, "It was painful for her too, but she changed that way in order to survive."
The shaman also conveyed how the late Choi Jin-sil felt about her daughter. She said, "What a mother worries about most is her daughter living the same life she did. There is a saying that a daughter takes after her mother's fate." She explained, "Jun-hee looks a lot like her mother. It seems she has held on even more desperately because she hates being told she looks like her mom. She really does resemble her mother, but she seems unwilling to admit it." She added, "Her mother was also naturally suspicious, and Jun-hee is similar in that she does not trust people easily and tends to be wary."
The shaman advised Choi Jun-hee, saying, "Jun-hee has been running alone for far too long," and added, "She has already gone through such a difficult time that she has nearly broken down several times, but she has kept herself going by forcing herself to push through. Now, she also needs to learn how to let herself rest a little."
Choi Jun-hee eventually broke into tears and revealed her true feelings, saying, "I want to rest too." At the end of the video, she said, "I think some of the things I was usually afraid of have become a little clearer. That alone feels relieving."
