[Sportschosun Reporter Kim So-hee] Broadcast personality Jeon Min-gi and his wife Jeong Mi-nyeo candidly open up about the divorce crisis they faced during their marriage.
On the 19th, Maeil Broadcasting Network (MBN) uploaded a preview video titled "Jeon Min-gi & Jeong Mi-nyeo confess to a divorce crisis! But..." for its show "Precious Family in Someone Else's House."
In the released video, Jeong Mi-nyeo shocked everyone when she told acquaintances, "We really had a major divorce crisis last year."
Jeong Mi-nyeo said, "Couples usually have one or two big fights a year, but there are not many cases where you actually fight to the point of thinking about divorce," adding, "We didn't speak to each other for about two weeks last year."
She recalled the time, saying, "Even during that period, my husband took the child on an overseas trip. Normally, I would have said, 'Have fun and come back safely,' or 'I'm sorry,' but for some reason, I didn't have the emotional space either." It showed just how deep the resentment had grown over time.
Jeong Mi-nyeo was also frank about how she felt at the time. "I wondered if we should break up," she said. "Just his presence alone made me feel like a dark energy was rising, even when he wasn't doing anything." Her honesty left a strong impression.
Jeon Min-gi also spoke candidly about marital conflict in an interview. "After living with emotional exhaustion for about 10 years, there are times when I think I just can't do it anymore," he said. "I also think that maybe we're two people who don't match, meeting each other and making each other suffer."
In another conversation with acquaintances, when asked, "Would you accept it if your wife asked for a divorce?" he replied, "If it were a decision made after a long period of thought, I don't think I could stop it," revealing his realistic feelings.
He then added, "Of course, we should never let such a situation happen," and said, "After living together for more than 10 years, I don't think separation would be easy."
"You end up thinking all kinds of things, don't you? If you fight for a week and stop talking, there are times when you feel like you're about to explode, but I heard my parents used to think the same way too," he added, drawing sympathy.
Meanwhile, MBN's "Precious Family in Someone Else's House" airs every Tuesday at 9:50 p.m.
