[Sportschosun, Reporter Lee Ji-hyun] YouTuber GwakTube shared an update from Mexico, where he had traveled to cheer for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. As he continued long-distance travel to watch the South Korea national football team, he drew attention by saying he would briefly return to Korea for his broadcast schedule and his son's 100th day celebration before heading back to Mexico.
On the 19th, a video showing GwakTube in Guadalajara, Mexico, was uploaded to his YouTube channel, "GwakTube."
In the video, GwakTube said, "I've said this many times before, but Mexico is top-tier when it comes to travel destinations," adding, "The food is delicious, it's affordable, and the people are great." He also noted, "Prices feel much higher than before," and explained, "Now it seems to be at a level similar to Korea."
He also visited an area near the South Korea national football team's closed training site. GwakTube said, "The Korean players are training right now," and added, "Since the Mexico match is coming up, I think they are keeping it even more strictly closed."
He then went around to well-known local taco spots and showed off his eating content. "It's a food I love so much that I could just keep eating tacos and wandering around," he said. "Each area tastes different, so it feels like a kimbap tour." He also noted that tacos cost about 2,000 to 3,500 won each, and after trying several kinds, he ranked them himself.
He also visited a large local supermarket to check prices in Mexico. GwakTube was surprised to see Korean products such as Buldak Bokkeum Myeon, Jin Ramen, Paldo Bibim Men, and Bong Bong on the shelves. In particular, he said, "I thought Mexico would be very cheap, but snacks and imported foods seem to be about the same price as in Korea, or even more expensive."
He also revealed the accommodation where he is staying during the World Cup. The lodging, located in an affluent area of Guadalajara, came with a swimming pool and tennis facilities, and GwakTube expressed satisfaction, saying, "Even though it's World Cup season, the price is better than I expected."
Later, he visited a fan festa event where World Cup supporters gather and described the lively local atmosphere. Wearing a South Korea jersey, GwakTube said, "There's not much time left until the Korea match, so I'm a little nervous," but he still enjoyed the scene.
Most notably, he revealed a surprise plan for his upcoming schedule at the end of the video. GwakTube said, "I have some sad news," and added, "I won't be able to watch the Mexico match at the stadium."
He explained, "I have regular broadcasts to do, and my son is turning 100 days old, so I'm going back to Korea for a short while." He added, "I booked a round-trip ticket, so I won't be able to watch the Mexico match and will head straight back to Korea." He then said, "After a brief trip to Korea, I'll move on to Monterrey to watch the South Africa match."
GwakTube promised, "I'll be cheering for the Mexico match from Korea," and added, "I'll come back with a South Africa match video afterward." He also predicted a 2-1 win for South Korea in the Mexico match and said, "I think Son Heung-min will score."
Meanwhile, GwakTube married a civil servant three years younger than him in October last year and welcomed a son in March. He recently appeared with his son on KBS 2TV's "Superman Is Back."
