[Sportschosun Reporter Lee Woo-joo] On 'Jeon Hyun-moo's Plan 3,' Im Woo-il shared an episode in which even his mother suspected him of being involved in criminal activity.
Im Woo-il appeared as a guest on the MBN program 'Jeon Hyun-moo's Plan 3,' which aired on the 19th.
Jeon Hyun-moo asked Im Woo-il, who said he was on a roll, which shows he was currently appearing on. Im Woo-il replied, "I'm a semi-regular on 'Hidden Singer,' do 'I Live Alone' occasionally, and appear on YouTube here and there." Jeon then joked, "It's a bit modest to say you're on a roll," drawing laughter.
Jeon Hyun-moo also asked about the origin of Im Woo-il's catchphrase, saying, "Was 'Jjaseu Jjaseu' something you always did?" Im Woo-il explained, "It was a segment on 'Gag Con' in 2012 that passed review but was canceled after three weeks. The senior comedians thought it was funny, so they kept making me say 'Jjaseu.' Senior Kim Dae-hee even told me, 'From now on, greet me with "Jjaseu."' I even used the catchphrase at weddings. I must have said it a million times. Everyone among the comedians knew it."
Im Woo-il, who said his income was unstable during his 'Gag Con' days, recalled, "When junior comedians joined, I always told them not to live alone. The moment you live alone, everything costs twice as much. I said we had to live together no matter what. I lived with a junior comedian until I was 38."
He later made money through YouTube, but said it only made his parents more suspicious. Im Woo-il said, "Later, when I wasn't appearing on TV and was only doing YouTube, I started making some money, so I gave my parents more allowance. If they needed something, I bought appliances for them too. But from my mother's point of view, it was strange that I wasn't appearing on TV, yet I was sending money and buying things. She called Kim Ki-ri and said, 'Please tell me honestly. Is Woo-il doing something illegal these days? He keeps buying things, but I haven't seen him on TV.'" His story drew laughter.
Talking about his recent splurges, Im Woo-il said, "I usually didn't even order delivery food and would pick things up instead. But not long ago, I was alone at home and suddenly got angry. I thought, why do I have to live so frugally when I'm the one making the money? I got so mad that I ordered sushi for myself while I was alone."
Jeon Hyun-moo then said, "This is the kind of person Im Woo-il is. He even went all the way to Yongsan to pick up Kang Yoo-mi's frozen food." Im Woo-il replied, "When I was eating something and only bones were left from the pork ribs, I would ask for just one bag and mutter to myself for no reason. I used to say the dog was at my parents' house and that it would like it, but I was the one who ate it." He looked back on how frugal he used to be.
