[Sportschosun Kim Jun-seok] Actress Kang Ye-won opened up about her honest feelings regarding plastic surgery.
A video titled "Lee Se-young's Plastic Surgery Consultation Room for Her 100 Million Won Makeover (Did Ye-won Get Her Nose Done Too?)" was recently uploaded to the YouTube channel 'Gwang Ye-won.'
That day, Kang visited a plastic surgery clinic and spoke candidly with comedian Lee Se-young about her own cosmetic procedures and the difficulties that came with them.
Kang said, "What really stresses me out is that, as an actress, I want to be reborn through my work and have articles written about my acting. But at some point, all the coverage kept focusing on my eye corner surgery, and that became incredibly stressful."
When the conversation turned to how her appearance changed after the eye corner revision, she said, "I had the eye corner surgery, but it went wrong, so I lived like that for 20 years before having it closed again." She added, "This is my original face."
After hearing that, Lee Se-young praised her, saying, "I think that’s amazing. She has the vibe of a rookie actress. She looks much more innocent and younger."
Kang also revealed an unexpected concern. She said, "People don’t recognize me. It’s a little disappointing when they walk right past me and still don’t know who I am," adding with a laugh, "So sometimes I even speak louder on purpose."
Kang also explained why she decided to undergo eye corner surgery. She recalled, "My manager used to say that if you have an epicanthic fold, it can be distracting when filming movies, so I went ahead with it." She added, "I had it done once, but over time my eyes started to look more and more close-set."
The video also showed a three-step comparison photo chart, featuring Kang's past photos alongside her current appearance.
When Lee Se-young looked at the photos and said, "Honestly, I think it’s not just the eye corner surgery, but also the nose surgery," Kang admitted, "I had a little work done on my nose."
When asked how many times she had surgery on her eyes, she answered honestly, "I’ve had my eyes done several times. I don’t remember exactly, but I think it was about seven times." Her candid reply drew surprise.
Kang confessed that she had suffered a great deal emotionally from the long-standing attention and scrutiny surrounding her cosmetic procedures.
She said, "I went through a lot because of the eye corner surgery. For now, I don’t plan to have any more plastic surgery. I’m sick of it."
She also said, "After the eye corner revision, I felt much more comfortable," and connected with viewers in a more natural-looking appearance.
