[Sportschosun Lee Woo-joo] Hwanhee's mother was moved to tears by her son's performance on 'Men Who Do the Housework.'
The episode of KBS2's 'Men Who Do the Housework,' which aired on the 20th, showed Hwanhee's mother traveling a long distance to watch his performance.
The day before, Hwanhee's mother had urgently called the production team. She explained why she reached out, saying, "I was so happy when I heard my son had a schedule. I contacted the 'Men Who Do the Housework' production team to ask if I could go with them." She added, "I could see how hard my son has been trying lately. Just being able to touch his hand and hear his breathing up close changed how I felt. I thought I should at least make kimbap and go as a small way of showing my gratitude."
While making kimbap to cheer Hwanhee on, his mother even hummed happily to herself. She traveled 267 kilometers to Namwon to meet him. When Hwanhee saw her, he was shocked and said, "You came all the way here? You didn't even come to my concert, but you came this far?"
Hwanhee thanked her, saying, "This is something I could never have dreamed of or imagined. I was worried you might go back because you'd be thinking about me for no reason, but you came all this way."
Before the performance, Hwanhee enjoyed his mother's homemade kimbap and was deeply touched. He said, "She used to pack it for me when I went on picnics, and it brought back so many memories. I think the taste is exactly the same as it was back then."
When the show began, the rising group Rescene took the stage first. But after their performance ended, fans suddenly started leaving their seats in droves. Faced with the unexpected scene, Hwanhee's mother panicked and said, "What if everyone leaves? What if our son feels so pitiful?" A nearby audience member reassured her, saying, "As many people leave, Hwanhee fans will come in. 'Men Who Do the Housework' is very popular."
Fortunately, Hwanhee's fans soon came in and filled the empty seats. Hwanhee made a glamorous entrance and opened with "Even If It Hurts." His mother watched with both hands clasped tightly, saying, "My heart was pounding as my son came out on stage. I kept worrying about what would happen if he made a mistake."
The audience reacted explosively to Hwanhee's singing, but his mother still could not stop worrying. She said, "He should be singing trot, but he keeps singing that song. What if everyone gets bored and leaves?"
Only after the first song ended did Hwanhee notice his mother sitting in the audience. He said, "I had no idea at all. When I sing, I usually look for fans and familiar faces and wave to them, but I never could have imagined this."
Hwanhee added, "Through 'Men Who Do the Housework,' I will keep making wonderful memories with my mother. I hope viewers can relate and think, 'So a mother and son with that kind of relationship can still be close.' I also hope they gain strength from me and 'Men Who Do the Housework,' stay healthy, and always be happy."
As she listened to Hwanhee sing, his mother eventually wiped away tears quietly. She said, "Hearing my son's song really moved me to tears. He had a very hard time doing trot."
