Kim Yang Mourns the Death of Her Mother One Year After Losing Her Father..."She Passed Away After Battling Blood Cancer"

[Sportschosun Park Ah-ram] Trot singer Kim Yang, whose real name is Kim Dae-jin, is mourning the death of her mother.

According to the music industry on the 21st, Kim Yang's mother, the late Song Jeong-rye, passed away on the 20th at the age of 73.

A funeral altar has been set up in Room 1 of the funeral hall at The Catholic University of Korea, Seoul St. Mary's Hospital in Seocho District, Seoul. Kim Yang is reportedly receiving mourners with her family in deep sorrow. The funeral procession will be held at 7:30 a.m. on the 23rd, and the burial will take place at Seoul Memorial Park before being moved to Seohyeon Memorial Park in Paju.

Kim Yang devoted herself to caring for her mother, who had long battled illness. In last year's MBN program "Special Report World," she revealed her mother's condition and said, "She has been suffering from blood cancer for 25 years." The broadcast also showed Kim Yang looking after her mother carefully despite her busy schedule, drawing sympathy from viewers.

The news is especially heartbreaking because Kim Yang also lost her father last year. She suffered the loss shortly before the final stage of MBN's "King of Veteran Singers," but she still went on stage and sang to the end with her family's support.

At the time, Kim Yang said, "I wanted to send my father off peacefully after the final, but he suddenly passed away a day before it." She added, "It was hard even to stand on stage, but my family told me that if it were my father, he would have wanted to see me singing, and that gave me the courage to go on."

Meanwhile, Kim Yang made her debut in 2008 with the single album "Ujimara" and gained popularity with songs such as "Heungbuja," "Yeonbun," and "One Step Forward." She has also remained active through appearances on various programs, including "Miss Trot," "King of Mask Singer," "King of Veteran Singers," and "Morning Forum."
