[Sportschosun, Baek Ji-eun] BTS member Jungkook has once again proved his global influence.
On the 20th, Jungkook changed his personal account profile photo. The new image features David and Lucy, characters from the Netflix anime "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners."
"Cyberpunk: Edgerunners" is a Japanese sci-fi anime released in 2022. It follows a gifted but reckless street kid as he fights to become an outlaw mercenary, an edgerunner, in a dystopian world filled with corruption and cybernetic implants.
When news of Jungkook’s profile change spread, Netflix Brazil reacted. It changed its official account photo to an image of David and Lucy sitting together from "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners." It also updated its bio to say, "Jungkook watched 'Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.'"
This is not the first time Netflix has shown affection for Jungkook.
Jungkook previously said he cried while watching the Netflix original "KPop Demon Hunters," and later rewatched some scenes with fans. In particular, he drew attention for shedding tears during Jin-woo’s sacrifice scene, where he gives his life for Rumi. Netflix then changed its official account image to a screenshot of Jungkook crying and updated its bio to say, "Jungkook watched 'KPop Demon Hunters.'"
Jungkook is the first K-pop star to prompt such a reaction from Netflix over a profile photo.
BTS is currently on its world tour, "Arirang." This is the group’s first full-member world tour since completing its military hiatus, and it will span 86 shows across 34 cities worldwide. However, as requests pour in from each region to see BTS, more dates are being added to the schedule.
On July 19, BTS will headline the World Cup final halftime show at MetLife Stadium in New York and New Jersey, standing alongside global pop stars such as Madonna and Shakira.
