[Sportschosun Reporter Jeong An-ji] Seulgi of Red Velvet has shared an update with fans for the first time since the sudden death of her cousin, YouTuber Sukijin.
On the 21st, Seulgi posted a personal update on a fan communication platform, saying, "I wondered if you were all worried a lot. I'm eating well, sleeping well, and preparing for the album, so I'm doing fine," to reassure concerned fans.
She added, "I came because I didn't want to be away for too long. I also came to show that I'm doing well, in case your worries grew bigger." She continued, "Your messages of comfort helped me a lot, and the members, my family, and people at the company have all been very considerate, so I'm doing okay. Please don't worry anymore."
Earlier, on the 7th, Sukijin, Seulgi's cousin and a creator, died suddenly.
On the 11th, a commenter on the YouTube channel 'Sukijin' identified herself as Sukijin's cousin living in the United States and shared the sad news, saying, "Our beloved Sujin became a star in the sky on June 7 after a sudden accident." She added, "Family and friends accompanied Sujin on her final journey," and asked, "Please keep her in your hearts so her family can grieve fully and send Sujin off in peace. Thank you."
Sukijin was an active creator on YouTube and social networking service (SNS), and she became known after appearing in vlog videos with Seulgi in the past. Seulgi also showed her affection by sharing moments from her daily life with Sukijin on SNS.
After the sudden news of her death was reported, Seulgi paused uploads on her personal channel until the 26th and took time to mourn.
