[Sportschosun Lee Ge-eun] Actress Shim Eun-woo has revealed that she underwent surgery to remove a benign breast tumor.
On the 21st, a video of Shim Eun-woo undergoing surgery was uploaded to the YouTube channel "Maum Shim Eun-woo."
Shim said that after a health checkup in April, she underwent additional tests at a breast surgery clinic on her doctor’s recommendation. She explained, "There was a lump with an irregular shape in my left breast, so I had a biopsy. Fortunately, it was not malignant but benign. The result showed fibroadenoma with hyperplasia, so I had to undergo surgery to remove it."
She then arrived at the hospital and underwent surgery under general anesthesia. The procedure took about 20 to 30 minutes, and she was discharged the same day after six hours of hospitalization.
After waking from anesthesia, she said, "It feels like I slept deeply for the first time in a while and woke up refreshed. They said they would give me painkillers if the pain was severe, but it was manageable, so I didn’t need them." Her mother, however, burst into tears after receiving Shim’s call and said, "You’re making me cry." Shim replied brightly, "Mom is crying. Anyone watching would think I had a major surgery." She recovered quickly, had a meal after being discharged that day, and went on with her daily life.
Meanwhile, Shim Eun-woo was embroiled in allegations of school violence in 2021. She later filed a lawsuit against the accuser, A, but police decided not to indict her, citing insufficient evidence.
Shim Eun-woo’s side said, "Although a decision was ultimately made not to send the case to prosecutors, we wanted to make clear that no school violence was proven during the investigation and to correct the situation in which falsehoods had come to be treated as truth. During the investigation, clear evidence emerged showing that Shim Eun-woo was not the perpetrator of school violence, and this was also stated in the findings." It added, "From this moment on, we hope Shim Eun-woo can be freed from the false accusation and misunderstanding that she was a 'school violence perpetrator' and reclaim the life she lost." The controversy then came to an end.
