[Sportschosun, Reporter Kim Soo-hyun] Jang Won-young returned to the airport with a noticeably different look after the controversy over security screening during an airport departure.
On the 23rd, Jang Won-young departed for Japan via Gimpo International Airport to carry out her world tour schedule.
Unlike the other members, she drew attention by appearing at the airport with a bright smile and without accessories that covered her face, such as a mask, hat, or sunglasses.
The scene contrasted with what was seen during her departure for Shanghai on the 30th of last month.
At the time, Jang Won-young wore a hat and mask until just before departure, and she was seen briefly lowering her mask at the request of staff.
As the video spread online, some users criticized Jang Won-young for not fully complying with the staff's request. Others argued that the airport's guidance was not clear enough.
In connection with the issue, complaints were also filed with the Security Management Department of the Gimpo Airport Operations Division, asking for clearer standards and guidance on identity verification.
KAC later said on the 16th that there had been "no celebrity preferential treatment." It also said it was strengthening verbal guidance to ask passengers to remove items covering their faces during identity checks, and that additional requests are made when identification is difficult.
According to the KAC website on the 20th, the domestic flight guide section for "Identity Verification and Ticket Inspection at the Boarding Gate" was updated with a new line in addition to the existing procedure: "Please briefly remove your mask, hat, and sunglasses so we can confirm that you are the ticket holder."
Her latest departure is being interpreted as a changed attitude following the earlier controversy, drawing mixed reactions online.
