The "Asan Chung Ju-yung 25th Anniversary Memorial Concert: Continuing Resonance," held by Hyundai Motor Group in February, will be introduced to viewers around the world through a U.S. CNN program.
Hyundai Motor Group said on the 24th that an episode of the CNN TV series "Showtime" highlighting the memorial concert will air on the 27th.
"Showtime" is a program that covers behind-the-scenes stories from major cultural and artistic events around the world. In this episode, it will feature performance scenes from the memorial concert held at the Seoul Arts Center, along with rehearsals, preparation work, and the efforts of staff and artisans behind the stage.
The concert was organized to mark the 25th anniversary of the death of honorary Hyundai Group Chairman Chung Ju-yung. Pianists Kim Sun-wook, Sunwoo Yekwon, Cho Seong-jin, and Yim Yunchan took part. The performance included duo pieces, two-piano collaborations, and four-piano ensemble works, expressing the value of cooperation and challenge through music.
The broadcast will also show the performers refining their musical interpretations during rehearsals, as well as the piano-making process at Steinway & Sons' U.S. factory and the work of Jong-yeol Lee, Korea's first master piano tuner.
A Hyundai Motor Group official said, "We are now able to introduce the stage of world-class artists and the preparation process behind it to viewers around the world." The official added, "We hope the values of collaboration and innovation embodied in the performance will also resonate meaningfully with viewers."
The episode will air on CNN International at 4:30 p.m. on the 27th.
