Choi Kang-hee Reveals She Fell for a Foreign Man at First Sight in Busan... Her Embarrassing Story Lost Over a Piece of Candy

[Sportschosun Lee Ji-hyun] Actress Choi Kang-hee (48) revealed why she gave up on a man she had fallen for at first sight because of a language barrier.

On the 23rd, the YouTube channel "I Learned About Love Through Movies" featured a conversation about love with actors Oh Jung-se and Daniel Choi under the title "Talking About Love with Successful Friends."

The three discussed the film "Love Actually" and shared their thoughts on the question, "Can you fall in love even if you don't speak the same language?"

Daniel Choi replied, "You can fall in love even if you can't communicate," adding, "If the person I fell for were French, I think I would learn French just to talk to them." Choi Kang-hee then asked, "Have you ever tried that hard?" Daniel Choi answered, "Not yet. I don't chase impossible things. I chase what is possible," drawing laughter.

When the conversation turned to experiences of falling in love at first sight, Choi Kang-hee answered honestly, "Yes." She recalled, "I once fell for a man in Busan at first sight."

But the romance did not last long. Choi Kang-hee confessed, "At first, I didn't know he spoke a different language. I thought we spoke the same language, so I fell for a man in Busan at first sight. But when I realized he was speaking English, I gave up on the feeling."

When Oh Jung-se and Daniel Choi said, "Why would you do that? You should have tried to hold on to him," Choi Kang-hee replied, "Because I can't speak English."

She then described the amusingly awkward situation in more detail. Choi Kang-hee said, "He spoke to me. I was holding a piece of taffy," adding, "He asked me in English, 'What is this?' I understood that part, but I couldn't answer."

Choi Kang-hee added, "That would have been enough, but he also said, 'Okay, thank you,' and left. So I thought, 'This is someone I can never be with,'" sending the set into laughter.

There was also a late regret. When asked whether she could say "taffy" in English now, Choi Kang-hee said, "If that person came to me now, I would say 'candy,'" and then added, "But even if I had said candy, what would have changed?" drawing laughter once again.
