[Reporter Jeong An-ji of Sportschosun] Actor Kim Moo-yeol opened up about a difficult period in his life, saying, "I earned only 200,000 won in a year during my years of obscurity."
At the end of the June 24 broadcast of tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block,' a preview for next week's episode featuring Kim Moo-yeol was released.
Kim Moo-yeol, who recently found global success with his latest project 'True Education,' is enjoying a new peak in his career as audiences around the world embrace him. In particular, the series drew strong attention after ranking No. 1 globally for two consecutive weeks following its release.
But behind his current success was a long stretch of obscurity. He said that when he was a rookie, he earned just 200,000 won over an entire year. At that moment, his wife, actress Yoon Seung-ah, appeared and moved viewers by saying, "We have been through a long time together, oppa," expressing her heartfelt support for her husband.
He also spoke candidly about the changes that came after years of being unknown. When asked how it felt, Kim Moo-yeol made people laugh by saying, "For the first time in 10 years, my neighbors told me I looked cool."
He also revealed the behind-the-scenes story of being shouted out by professional wrestler John Cena. When Kim Moo-yeol said it was because they looked alike, Yoo Jae-suk laughed and said, "You do look alike."
Kim Moo-yeol then responded to the comment that "Heo Nam-jun is his role model," saying, "I said, 'We both really deserve congratulations.'"
He also showed his unusual passion for the project. Kim Moo-yeol said he worked out during every break while filming 'True Education,' adding, "If there was something to hold on to, I held on no matter what," drawing laughter.
