Sayuri's son Zen: Was five languages at age 5 not enough? Self-studying Arabic as a 'language genius'

[Sportschosun Jung An-ji] Zen, the son of broadcaster Sayuri, once again drew attention for his exceptional language skills.

Sayuri posted a video on her Social Networking Service (SNS) account on the 24th showing her son Zen.

In the video, Zen is seen practicing pronunciation by fluently repeating unfamiliar words in a foreign language. It turned out that he had recently become fascinated with Arabic and started studying it on his own.

Sayuri said, "Zen has been watching YouTube and teaching himself Arabic letters and basic pronunciation." She added, "He says the pronunciation is harder than Spanish or Chinese, and in the end he asked me to find him an Arabic teacher."

Zen had already drawn attention as a 'language genius' for speaking not only Korean language and Japanese, but also English, Chinese and Spanish at such a young age.

In a YouTube video released on the 17th, Zen also made headlines for speaking English naturally with a foreign friend and showing off his fluent English skills.

Meanwhile, broadcaster Sayuri gave birth to Zen on her own in 2020 after receiving sperm donation from a Western man. Explaining her decision, she said, "I was told that natural pregnancy would be difficult and that the success rate of IVF was not high. I did not want to rush into marriage with someone I did not love."

As a voluntary single mother, Sayuri is currently sharing her daily life raising Zen alone through her YouTube channel.
