Ben Says Lee Wook Was at Fault, Reveals the Real Reason for Her Divorce: "An Unbearable Sense of Betrayal During Pregnancy" [SC Issue]

[Sportschosun Baek Ji-eun] Singer Ben has revealed the real reason for her divorce.

On the 24th, a video titled "Will I Look Too Funny? The Reality of Raising a Child as a Single Mother" was uploaded to K.Will's YouTube channel.

In the video, Ben, who appeared as a guest, spoke candidly about the divorce process with Lee Wook, chairman of the W Foundation.

She said, "It was a decision I made six months after giving birth. I spent four to five years with that person, trying to endure, getting angry, and doing everything I could. Then, when I was going through a very difficult time, I became pregnant. I thought, 'This child came to save me.' I thought I would be happy no matter what happened, but even then, something happened. It was too hard to bear the betrayal."

However, deciding to divorce while still having such a young child was not easy. Ben said, "My father and most of my family opposed the divorce. My father said, 'Everyone lives like that.' But I thought that even when my daughter turned six, I would still be struggling with the same question. I believed it was better to resolve what was not right as soon as possible. I am the kind of person who does not let people go easily and gives everything to love, so it was incredibly difficult until the very end. But marriage is not built on love alone, and even now I think I made the right decision to divorce," as she teared up.

She also emphasized, "Above all, the public's gaze was painful. I was so afraid of how people would see me that my body trembled. I worried that coming back as a single mother would make me look ridiculous." She added, "Divorce is not a wrongdoing; it can be a choice for a better life. I hope divorced people, whether celebrities or ordinary people, do not have to live like criminals."

Ben acknowledged her relationship with Lee Wook in 2019 and married him in August 2020. The couple welcomed their first daughter in March 2023, but their marriage ended in December of that year when they filed for divorce mediation with the court. At the time, Ben's side said, "The cause of the divorce lies with Chairman Lee Wook. Ben will have custody of their daughter."
