'National Singer' Kim Gun-mo Makes a Surprise Comeback After 10 Years... New Song Out on July 1

[Sportschosun Baek Ji-eun reporter] Singer Kim Gun-mo is finally returning.

Kim Gun-mo will make his comeback with a new single, "Where Might I Be Going," at 6 p.m. on July 1.

The new album is his first new release in 10 years, following the 2016 album "50," which marked the 25th anniversary of his debut. It is a remake of the title track from Jeon Young's first album, released in 1977. The song carries special meaning as it marks a second starting point in his music career, with Kim Gun-mo setting aside the familiar image of "the piano-playing Kim Gun-mo" and singing while playing the guitar himself for the first time since his debut.

Kim Gun-mo became embroiled in legal disputes in 2019 after allegations were raised on the YouTube channel Garo Sero Research Institute that he had sexually assaulted and assaulted a woman working at an entertainment establishment. The woman who claimed to be a victim filed a complaint with the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, but in 2021 prosecutors cleared Kim Gun-mo of all charges.

Afterward, Kim Gun-mo spent a long hiatus healing his inner wounds and returned after six years with the "25-26 Kim Gun-mo Live Tour." Starting with the Busan concert, which sold out within two minutes of ticket sales opening, and continuing through the finale at Jamsil Arena in Seoul on March 21, every seat was sold out, proving his enduring popularity. As a result, great attention is now focused on his comeback.
