[Sportschosun Reporter Park A-ram] Singer Ha Chun-hwa said her father’s teachings were the reason she has continued donating more than 20 billion won.
On the June 24 episode of tvN's "You Quiz on the Block," Ha Chun-hwa, who is marking her 65th debut anniversary, appeared and shared her music career and philosophy of giving.
That day, Ha Chun-hwa recounted how her exceptional singing talent was recognized from childhood, leading her to pursue a career as a singer. Although public attitudes toward popular musicians were not favorable at the time, her father believed in her talent and strongly supported her, saying, "You can do nothing but sing."
Ha Chun-hwa said her father’s guidance has been the driving force behind the donations and charitable work she has carried out to this day. She said, "He always told me that if I became a famous singer, I should do many good things for society," adding, "As I put those words into practice, it naturally became part of my life."
The broadcast also revisited Ha Chun-hwa's dazzling peak years. Yoo Jae-suk mentioned that she rose to No. 1 in celebrity income in the 1970s, ahead of stars such as Cho Yong-pil and Namjin. She was 22 years old at the time.
Ha Chun-hwa recalled, "I performed a lot," adding, "Back then, I sometimes held three to five recitals a day." She also revealed her extraordinary performance record, saying, "I have held about 800 recitals so far." She was even listed in Guinness World Records for the most performances by an individual.
Meanwhile, Ha Chun-hwa is known to have given back more than 20 billion won to society through charity performances and donations over several decades. Often called the entertainment industry's leading angel of giving, she continues to earn public respect for her unwavering good deeds and music career as she marks her 65th debut anniversary.
