[Sportschosun Lee Ge-eun] Actress and painter Lee Hye-young revealed why she stepped away from the entertainment industry after remarrying.
On the 25th, the YouTube channel "Hye-young Can't Be Stopped" released a video of Lee Hye-young meeting her daughter.
The daughter introduced herself, saying, "I currently live in New York, but I came to Los Angeles (LA) to see my family. I am 26 years old, and I was working at a Michelin Guide Korean restaurant, but I am taking a break because of a severe cervical disc problem." Lee Hye-young and her daughter drew attention with a warm, friendly conversation that felt like one between close friends.
When the production team asked, "Was there a reason you put your career on hold and chose to live as a mother, even though you were a famous celebrity?" Lee Hye-young said it was because of her daughter. She recalled, "One day, my daughter asked why I wasn't filming dramas these days and said she wanted to see me on TV. I told her that if I filmed a drama, I wouldn't be able to spend time with her. I asked whether she would rather have me by her side even if I wasn't on TV, and she said she wanted me to stay with her. So I said I would raise you well first and then return to entertainment later." She added, "She knows that I didn't continue my celebrity life because of her."
The daughter expressed her gratitude to Lee Hye-young, saying, "My mother gave up so many things for me for years. She has always supported my dreams."
Meanwhile, Lee Hye-young married singer Lee Sang-min in 2004, but they divorced the following year. She remarried a financial businessman in 2011 and became a stepmother. In 2021, she was diagnosed with lung cancer and underwent major surgery to remove part of her lung.
