Jung Sun-hee Blames Herself After Ahn Jae-hwan's Death: "Tens of Thousands of People Said It Was My Fault, and I Started to Wonder If It Really Was

[Sportschosun, Kim So-hee] Broadcaster Jung Sun-hee looked back on past pain and shared the lessons and wisdom she gained from it.

On the 25th, a video titled "'Read This When You're Having a Hard Time' Jung Sun-hee's Advice That Helped Hong Jin-kyung Keep Her Mental Strength Strong (+ Untold Story)" was released on the YouTube channel "Study King Jin Jin Jae Hong Jin Kyung."

That day, Jung Sun-hee recalled the period after she lost her husband, the late Ahn Jae-hwan, in 2008, when she was subjected to all kinds of rumors and malicious comments. She spoke candidly about the emotions and thoughts she had while going through that time.

She said, "As time went by, people did not clearly draw a line around the claims that I had done something wrong. The boundaries disappeared, and I really started to think, 'Was it because of me?'" She added, "I should have been able to objectify it and put it on a shelf, but I couldn't. As my sadness turned into self-blame, it felt like I had fallen into a swamp and didn't know how to get out."

She went on to say, "Drawing clear boundaries is extremely important. Now that I have the maturity and experience I do today, I can tell the difference, but when I was younger, everything was mixed together, and that made it even harder."

She also said, "In fact, I was the person who heard that story the most. It felt like tens of thousands of people were saying the same thing, so I started to wonder whether I had really done something wrong." She added, "At first, the overwhelming majority came at me all at once, and I was pushed back by the force of it."

But over time, she came to see things differently. Jung Sun-hee said, "If someone is struggling with the same issue now, I would want to go and tell them this for sure. Go quickly, take a marker, and clearly draw the line between right and wrong," offering advice that moved viewers.
