[Sportschosun Reporter Lee Ji-hyun] Actress Seo Hyo-rim expressed her deep longing for her late mother-in-law, Kim Soo-mi, while also signaling her determination to carry on the kimchi brand that bears Kim Soo-mi's name.
On the 26th, Seo Hyo-rim posted a photo of kimchi on her social media account and began by saying, "It tastes so good that I wonder if I ever loved kimchi this much."
She went on to say, "I miss you... so deeply... I miss you terribly... that handmade flavor... I want to hear your voice again... even that sharp way you used to scold me..." expressing her heartfelt longing for Kim Soo-mi in her lifetime.
At the end, she wrote, "Mom, I'll do my best. Please watch over me," making a promise to the late actress. Seo Hyo-rim also added hashtags such as #KimSoo-miKimchi, #KimSoo-mi1949Kimchi, and #SoomiHouse.
She also told an acquaintance, "It will go on sale starting next week. I'll let you know when it begins." The remark has drawn attention, as it suggests she is moving beyond a simple tribute and seeking to revive the kimchi brand under Kim Soo-mi's name.
Meanwhile, Kim Soo-mi was widely loved during her lifetime as a "master of home-style cooking" through various cooking programs and food businesses. In particular, she launched a kimchi brand under her own name and poured years of culinary know-how into the product. She also showed her chemistry with her daughter-in-law Seo Hyo-rim by releasing kimchi-related content together. However, in the morning of October 2024, she was found in cardiac arrest at her home, taken to a hospital, and later died.
Seo Hyo-rim married Jung Myung-ho, Kim Soo-mi's son and the head of food company Napalggot F&B, in 2019, and they have a daughter. While Kim Soo-mi was alive, the two openly shared their close mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship through television and social media, earning much affection. Even after Kim Soo-mi's death, Seo Hyo-rim has continued to post tributes and memories, expressing her grief.
