[Sportschosun Reporter Lee Ji-hyun] Former national figure skating champion Yuna Kim candidly opened up about how her life and values have changed since marriage.
Through a recent photo shoot and interview for fashion magazine Elle's special digital project, "ELLE D Edition," Yuna Kim shared the changes she has felt after marriage and her thoughts on her life today.
In the released photos, Yuna Kim wore pieces from Dior Fine Jewelry's "My Dior" collection and completed an elegant look. Her softly tousled bob, subtle makeup, and Dior Fine Jewelry came together to create her signature refined and graceful mood. In particular, the structured silhouette of a blue dress and her restrained poses highlighted Yuna Kim's sophisticated charm and drew attention.
In the interview that accompanied the photo shoot, she calmly spoke about how her daily life and values have changed since retiring from competition and getting married. She especially drew attention by describing married life as "feeling like I have entered a completely new world."
She said, "At first, I was afraid too, but I found myself living bravely and well," adding that she views her adjustment to a new environment in a positive light.
She also said that marriage has made her feel even more responsible. Yuna Kim explained, "Since I now have a new family, I keep thinking about how we can be considerate of each other and maintain a good relationship for a long time." She said this has led her to constantly reflect on herself in order to preserve her relationship with the person she lives with.
Her definition of happiness has also changed significantly from her days as an athlete. While she once felt the greatest joy after delivering a satisfying performance, she now said that "getting through the day without any problems is the happiest thing."
She added, "Eating delicious food, spending time with good people, and simply living an ordinary day all feel precious to me," saying she has come to value the happiness found in small, everyday moments.
Toward the end of the interview, she chose "balance" as the value she wants to protect going forward. Having lived under the public eye since childhood, Yuna Kim said, "In the end, the most important thing in life is knowing what kind of life I want to live," and added, "No matter what happens in the future, I want to keep my own center and live that way."
Meanwhile, Yuna Kim married Forestella member Ko Woo-rim in 2022. Since then, she has continued her own path through advertising, photo shoots, and brand activities.
