[Sportschosun Kim Jun-seok] It has been seven years since actress Jeon Mi-seon passed away. Even as time goes by, her works and performances remain in many people's memories and are being revisited once again.
Jeon Mi-seon was found dead in a hotel room in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province, on June 29, 2019. She was 48. She had traveled to Jeonju for a performance schedule and was found by 119 Emergency Medical Service crews and police officers who responded after her manager reported the incident, but she was already dead.
At the time, her agency said, "She had been receiving treatment for depression, but we are saddened to deliver this news." The sudden loss shocked not only the entertainment industry but also the public.
What made the tragedy even more heartbreaking was that she remained passionate about acting until her final moments.
Just four days before her death, she attended the production press conference for the film "Naratmalssami" and met reporters in a bright mood. She was also scheduled to appear in the play "Chinjung Eommawa 2bak 3il." No one expected her sudden farewell.
Jeon began her acting career in 1986 and was loved for years for her solid performances that elevated every production rather than flashy leading roles.
She earned the reputation of a "master actress" by delivering deeply emotional performances in numerous hit dramas, including "Taejo Wang Geon," "Moon Embracing the Sun," "Bread, Love and Dreams," "Ojakgyo Brothers," "Love in the Moonlight," and "Six Flying Dragons."
Her presence in films was equally distinctive. She appeared in major works such as "Memories of Murder," "Mother," and "Naratmalssami," leaving a strong impression on audiences with her delicate yet realistic acting.
From supporting roles that strengthened the lead to parts that carried the center of the story, she showed a wide acting range and established herself as one of the representative actors in Korean film and television.
After the news of her death, fellow actors and production staff expressed their condolences one after another. Fans also paid tribute, saying, "I can't believe it," "I never thought she would leave so soon," and "I still tear up when I watch her works."
As the seventh anniversary falls today, on the 29th, the many works and warm performances Jeon Mi-seon left behind continue to be remembered without fading.
Her sincere acting, shown across both the big and small screens, still lives on in the memories of many.
