hy Co., Ltd. announced that a research paper on the gut-kidney axis involving its proprietary probiotic, Lactiplantibacillus plantarum HY7718, has been published in the Science Citation Index (SCI)-level international journal International Journal of Molecular Sciences (IJMS).
The gut-kidney axis refers to the concept that gut microbiota and the intestinal environment interact with kidney function. In the past, the gut and kidneys were viewed as separate organs, but recent attention to the link between changes in the intestinal environment and kidney health has made it a major topic in Microbiome research.
The paper examined how HY7718 affects gut-kidney axis-related indicators in an animal model with induced chronic kidney disease. The researchers comprehensively analyzed kidney fibrosis, genes related to vascular inflammation, inflammatory responses in colon tissue, gastrointestinal function-related markers, and changes in gut microbiota composition.
As a result, the paper said that the group given HY7718 showed a decrease in kidney fibrosis and in the expression of genes related to vascular inflammation.
Meanwhile, hy Co., Ltd. continues to develop functional probiotics. It has obtained individual recognition in the areas of body fat reduction, skin moisture and UV damage, and immune function enhancement. The company is also building scientific evidence through clinical trials in various fields, including liver, women's health, and respiratory health. Jeon Sang-hee, nowater@sportschosun.com
