[Sportschosun] Reporter Jang Jong-ho reported that the Future Innovative Medical Research Center at Soonchunhyang University Cheonan Hospital, headed by Gil Hyo-wook, held a symposium on the 6th floor of the hospital's main auditorium on the afternoon of the 19th.
The symposium was organized to share key issues in the latest biomedical science and to explore the future direction of translational research linked to clinical practice.
Five presentations were delivered across three sessions. In the final session, Jung Jae-ho, director of the Yonsei Institute of Convergence Science and Technology, gave a special lecture on "Quantum information technology in drug development and biomedical science."
In the first session, under the theme of "Research strategies for precision medicine based on disease mechanisms," two presentations were given: "A convergence research network centered on the G-LAMP project: creating synergy between clinical and basic research" by Seo Na-young, director of the Soonchunhyang University Institute for Molecular Metabolism Innovation, and "Disease mechanism analysis and clinical application strategies based on multi-omics" by Professor Moon Jong-seok of the Soonchunhyang Institute of Biomedical Science.
The second session, themed "New directions for medical AI," featured presentations including "The need for and research direction of an R2C (Robot to Clinical) data conversion platform for medical physical AI" by Professor Kim Hyeong-ju of the Department of Urology at Soonchunhyang University Cheonan Hospital, and "Disease prevention strategies using public health data and AI" by Professor Jang Young-soo of the Department of Preventive Medicine at Soonchunhyang University College of Medicine.
More than 50 external experts attended the symposium, along with researchers from Soonchunhyang University Cheonan Hospital, the Soonchunhyang Institute of Medi-Bio Science (SIMS), and Soonchunhyang University College of Medicine. They discussed research achievements and possible cooperation in precision medicine, medical AI, multi-omics, public health data, and advanced convergence technologies.
Center director Gil Hyo-wook said, "It was a meaningful event that reaffirmed the importance of translational research based on clinical needs and laid the groundwork for experts from various fields to collaborate." He added, "We will continue to work to strengthen research competitiveness in advanced convergence technologies, centered on medical science."
