[Sportschosun reporter Jang Jong-ho] A shocking incident occurred on a U.S. highway, where a man forcibly pulled a female driver out of her car, threw her onto the road, and fled the scene.
According to U.S. media outlets including the New York Post, around 9 p.m. local time on the 23rd, a white SUV suddenly came to a stop in the second lane of a highway in Chicago, Illinois, while in motion.
In the video recorded at the scene, a man got out of the passenger seat immediately after the vehicle stopped and made an obscene gesture toward nearby cars.
The man then moved to the driver’s side, opened the door, grabbed the female driver by the hair, and threw her onto the road. She rolled across the lane from the impact, and a vehicle traveling in the first lane swerved sharply, narrowly avoiding a collision.
The woman was left lying face down on the pavement with one shoe off, while the man drove away without taking any action.
Drivers who witnessed the scene got out of their cars, checked on the woman, and rushed to help.
One witness at the scene said in an interview, "At first, I thought there was a body," adding, "The man opened the driver’s door, pulled the woman out, and threw her onto the highway. There were cars all around, and it was an extremely dangerous situation."
Another witness said, "The man left her there," and added, "Together with other witnesses, I stayed with the woman until the police and rescue crews arrived."
The extent of the woman’s injuries has not been disclosed, and it is also unclear whether the suspect has been identified or arrested.
The Illinois State Police said, "The investigation is ongoing, and there is no additional information that can be released at this time."
