[Sportschosun Jo Ji-young] Actor Kim Mu-yeol, 44, said, "My wife Yoon Seung-ah encouraged me by saying for the first time that it looked like it would do well."
Kim Mu-yeol, who plays Na Hwa-jin, an inspector at the School Rights Protection Bureau in the Netflix series 'Teach You a Lesson' (written by Lee Nam-gyu, Kim Da-hee and Moon Jong-ho, directed by Hong Jong-chan), met with Sportschosun in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 12th and explained how he came to join the series.
Kim said, "What I liked about 'Teach You a Lesson' was that it handled a difficult story without making it feel difficult. I had a lot of faith in director Hong Jong-chan. While working on my previous project, 'Juvenile Justice,' I had already become somewhat interested in stories like this, and it became an opportunity to take a closer and deeper look at things I had only viewed from a somewhat distant perspective. I felt that director Hong Jong-chan would be a great help in dealing with a difficult story, and I thought we could pull it off together. As we worked through 10 episodes, there was also a desire and passion to explore the material more deeply than before, in a different tone from what we had originally envisioned. While handling all 10 episodes, there were times when we felt tired or had doubts, but every time that happened, I found it fun to keep going while watching the steady energy never change."
He continued, "While working on 'Teach You a Lesson,' I feel like I have been thinking about many different perspectives. I am also a beginner parent who has only just started thinking seriously about my child's education. There is still so much I need to learn and so much I need to think about. There will be plenty of trial and error, and I think it will allow me to look into many different issues." He added, "My wife Yoon Seung-ah also said it was fun. My wife is usually very strict with me. She tends to speak honestly about my work, without holding back, but this time she praised it by saying it was fun for the first time. She even told me it looked like it would do well, and I was surprised because even that reaction was a first."
Based on the webtoon of the same name by Chae Yong-taek and Han Ga-ram, 'Teach You a Lesson' depicts the satisfying and refreshing efforts of the School Rights Protection Bureau, which was established to protect the crumbling education scene in the Republic of Korea from students, teachers and parents who cross the line. Kim Mu-yeol, Lee Sung-min, Jin Ki-joo and Pyo Ji-hoon star in the series. The script was written by Lee Nam-gyu, Kim Da-hee and Moon Jong-ho, who also wrote 'Daily Dose of Sunshine,' and directed by Hong Jong-chan of 'Juvenile Justice' and 'Mr. Plankton.' It was released on Netflix on the 5th.
