[Official] "A Festival of Stars"... Korea's First OTT Awards, the 5th Blue Dragon Series Awards, Set for July 31

[Sportschosun reporter Jo Ji-young] The 5th Blue Dragon Series Awards, Korea's first and largest awards ceremony for original streaming series, will host a grand celebration next month.

Hosted by Sportschosun, the country's first awards ceremony dedicated to streaming series, the 5th Blue Dragon Series Awards will be held at 8:30 p.m. on July 31 at Paradise City Incheon.

Launched in 2022, the Blue Dragon Series Awards is Korea's first and only standalone awards ceremony of its kind. It has spotlighted the growth of original streaming content amid a rapidly changing media market, while reshaping the traditional awards paradigm centered on broadcasters.

Now in its fifth year, the Blue Dragon Series Awards brings together the best works that have elevated the status of K-content and the stars behind them to share in the celebration.

This year's nominees will be selected from dramas, entertainment shows, and cultural programs released over the past year, from June 1 last year to May 31 this year, on domestic and overseas streaming platforms, including Netflix, Disney+, Wavve, Genie TV (ENA), Coupang Play, and TVING, in alphabetical order. The final nominees will be chosen fairly based on in-depth opinions from industry experts and the results of the first online vote by general viewers. The final nominees in each category will be announced later.

A Blue Dragon Series Awards official said, "It will be a meaningful occasion to document the present of K-content, which is leading the global media landscape, and to open a better future together." The official added, "We ask for your great interest and enthusiastic support for this festival, where the figures who brought deep emotion and joy to viewers around the world over the past year will take the stage."

Meanwhile, the 5th Blue Dragon Series Awards will take place at 8:30 p.m. on July 31 at Paradise City Incheon and will be broadcast live on KBS2.
