[Sportschosun Ahn So-yoon] 'Malja Show' has set a new personal best in ratings.
KBS2's 'Malja Show,' which aired on the 15th, recorded a nationwide rating of 3.3 percent, according to Nielsen Korea. That topped the previous high of 3.1 percent set by the April 27 special episode, 'First Experience of Life,' which featured comedian Seo Kyung-seok. On the day, 'Malja Show' not only set a new record, but also firmly held first place in the ratings race against variety programs airing at the same time.
The show's popularity has been on a steady rise. In particular, the 'Blind Date Segment' special that aired on the 8th drew strong attention. The segment expanded on the live matchmaking corner in which MC Kim Young-hee paired couples on site. That day, seven couples were formed, and the fresh energy of young men and women brought smiles to viewers.
A scene in which a Japanese female audience member searched for her ideal type drew a peak minute-by-minute rating of 4.3 percent. In response to the enthusiastic viewer reaction, the production team is considering rebroadcasting the 'Blind Date Segment' special this winter.
The broadcast on the 15th also reached a peak minute-by-minute rating of 4 percent. The most-watched one-minute segment featured guest Kim Ji-yeon, an obstetrician and gynecologist, who introduced self-test questions for menopause.
The response on social networking service (SNS) has also been intense. The official Instagram account for 'Malja Show,' launched in January, surpassed 200 million cumulative views in just five months. In particular, reels alone have drawn 110 million views over the past three months, continuing the show's explosive growth.
