[Sportschosun Jo Ji-young reporter] Actor Yoon Kyung-ho has emerged as the scene-stealing performer viewers now call their top pick through 'The Legend of Kitchen Soldier' (written by Choi Ryong, directed by Jo Nam-hyung).
In TVING's original 'The Legend of Kitchen Soldier,' which ended on the 16th amid strong viewer interest, Yoon Kyung-ho led the drama as Staff Sergeant Park Jae-young, the supply sergeant who served as a dependable pillar for the soldiers.
In the final episode, Battalion Commander Baek Chun-ik's scheme led to the decision to shut down Kangrim Platoon. Park Jae-young, who had cared for the platoon and taken responsibility for it more than anyone else, prepared to strike back in anger. While Captain Hwang Seok-ho exposed Baek Chun-ik's corruption at a cooking competition attended by officers, Park appeared on site with investigators and evidence of the wrongdoing he had secured from Baek's office. He ultimately cornered Baek Chun-ik and saved Kangrim Platoon, delivering a satisfying ending. His leadership, as he stood at the forefront for his comrades and the platoon, left a deep impression until the very end.
Yoon, who brought the character to life with a mix of humor and seriousness and proved his irreplaceable presence, shared his thoughts through his agency, Noon Company. "First, I want to thank everyone who enjoyed 'The Legend of Kitchen Soldier' and loved Park Jae-young," he said. He added, "I also want to bow my head in gratitude to director Jo Nam-hyung, writer Choi Ryong, and the cast and crew of Kangrim Platoon, who worked together so closely like one unit and created unforgettable memories."
He also said, "I had often heard that I suited the role of a supply sergeant, and I was truly happy to be able to play both a supply sergeant and a character like Park Jae-young. I will continue to greet you with a variety of projects, so I hope for your continued interest."
With 'The Legend of Kitchen Soldier,' Yoon Kyung-ho has added yet another one-of-a-kind career-defining character to his filmography. He is set to return with the Netflix film 'Husbands in Action' on the 19th, followed by the premiere of SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Manager Kim' on the 26th. As he continues to move effortlessly between film, television, and OTT platforms, he is expected to maintain his strong momentum as one of the industry's hottest actors.
