[Sportschosun reporter Jo Ji-young] Kang Ha-kyung and Kim Moon-gi of the group Migak Boys, who delighted viewers on all five senses, shared heartfelt thoughts on the end of the series.
Kang Ha-kyung, who played Staff Sergeant Kim Gwan-cheol and the so-called "bitter taste" character, and Kim Moon-gi, who stood out as Private First Class Pyo Ji-yong and the "salty taste" character, wrapped up TVING's original series The Legend of Kitchen Soldier, which ended on the 16th, with special farewell remarks.
In the final episode of The Legend of Kitchen Soldier, Kim Gwan-cheol joined Kang Seong-jae (Park Ji-hoon) and Yoon Dong-hyun (Lee Hong-nae) in a division-level military meal cooking competition. He first drew a line, saying, "Can't you hear the sound of the outpost shutter closing? What kind of competition is this in a situation like this?" But in the end, he showed his warm-hearted charm by pouring his passion into the mission for his comrades.
In particular, Kang Ha-kyung's emotionally dense performance took the drama's immersion to its peak. On the day of the long-awaited cooking contest, Kim Gwan-cheol showed his nerves but encouraged the team by saying, "Let's not get scared. If we stick together, we're not bad." He briefly lost confidence under the opposing team's intimidating knife work, but regained strength from Kang Seong-jae's warm gaze and pushed through the crisis with strong camaraderie. In the end, Kim Gwan-cheol, Kang Seong-jae, and Yoon Dong-hyun completed a "seven-star dish" and won the competition after a fierce battle.
Kang Ha-kyung said, "This is the first work and character that received so much love, so I think I will never forget it for the rest of my life. I sincerely thank everyone for their interest and love," adding, "I hope our drama could be a small resting place where you could smile and take a break amid your busy lives."
Kim Moon-gi, who added energy to the drama with his chemistry alongside Staff Sergeant Kim Gwan-cheol as Pyo Ji-yong, also expressed regret over the final episode. He created a friendly and warm atmosphere, and as he stood in opposition to Kang Seong-jae with Kim Gwan-cheol, drawing them into dangerous situations, he captured viewers' attention as a scene stealer with tense moments.
Above all, Kim Moon-gi left a strong impression by maximizing the unique charm of his character. His delicate emotional expression and natural everyday acting added fun to the drama, while his steady performance chemistry also heightened the show's immersion.
Through his agency, GOLDEN MOON Entertainment (GDM), Kim Moon-gi said, "I want to sincerely thank everyone who loved Pyo Ji-yong and Migak Boys' salty taste character in The Legend of Kitchen Soldier. Meeting the role of Pyo Ji-yong was truly a great blessing, and it was enjoyable every moment because I was able to have a unique experience, including appearing on a music show stage, while receiving so much love and attention from many people."
He added, "It was an honor to be part of The Legend of Kitchen Soldier, and I will not forget the affection, attention, and love so many people gave me. I will keep working hard and continue writing my own growth story. Loyalty!"
