[Sportschosun Jo Ji-young] Actor Kim Min-seok shared an emotional farewell to "Brave New World."
The SBS Friday-Saturday drama "Brave New World," which ended on the 20th, is a romance comedy about a fierce, life-or-death battle between Shin Seori (Lim Ji-yeon), an unknown actress possessed by the soul of a notorious Joseon-era villainess, and Cha Segye (Heo Nam-joon), a ruthless chaebol heir known as a monster created by capitalism. In the drama, Kim Min-seok played Baek Gwang-nam, a resident of room 202 at a goshiwon and Shin Seori's manager.
In this project, Kim Min-seok brought to life Baek Gwang-nam, a "professional complainer" who could easily have come across as irritating, and gave the drama a burst of energy with his down-to-earth performance. His expressive facial acting made the lines even more memorable, and his perfect chemistry with Lim Ji-yeon drew both laughter and empathy from viewers.
As the drama came to an end, Kim Min-seok said, "I always feel the same way. I keep thinking, 'When will it end?' but once it actually does, I feel sad and regretful. I already miss the atmosphere of everyone clashing fiercely both on and off camera." He added, "Thanks to the director, staff, and fellow actors who helped fill in my shortcomings and guided me along the way, we were able to bring it to a safe close."
He also addressed viewers, saying, "I know it's never something to take for granted when people tune in every week. The support from viewers who set aside an hour for 'Brave New World' gave me great strength." He continued, "The drama may be over, but I would be happy if Baek Gwang-nam remains in your memories as a lingering presence that pops up from time to time."
Meanwhile, Kim Min-seok, who successfully completed the journey of "Brave New World" with his own distinct style, has confirmed his appearance in the JTBC drama "Human X Gumiho" and is currently filming.
