Lee Dong-wook and Kim Hye-jun, who are set to captivate viewers around the world once again through 'The Shopping Mall of the Killer Season 2,' showed off their unmatched chemistry in the July issue of Elle.
The newly released photos capture the deepened bond between niece Jian (Kim Hye-jun), who has grown more mature after a grueling ordeal, and her uncle Jin-man (Lee Dong-wook), who has returned from the dead. Their trusting gazes and the powerful aura they create simply by standing together point to a perfect partnership and even stronger synergy in Season 2.
In an interview following the shoot, the two actors shared their strong affection for the project and a range of stories. Lee Dong-wook, who is meeting Jin-man again in Season 2, said, "I felt a strong need to deliver a high-quality project. I thought Season 2 could move forward with even more momentum." He also described Jin-man by saying, "It feels less like discovering him anew and more like getting closer to him." He added, "He is a character who is a little different from the leads in typical action films, dramas, or spy stories. Jeong Jin-man is someone who knows how to make full use of his surroundings. I think that feels realistic," heightening anticipation for the distinctive character work that can only be seen in 'The Shopping Mall of the Killer' series.
Kim Hye-jun, who plays Jian, the shopping mall's new leader, also reflected on her character's inner growth, saying, "I wanted to capture the strong force that breaks through her vulnerable side, along with the instinct she inherited from her uncle, which suddenly surfaces." She added, "She comes to face the life Jin-man has lived and accepts the same path." At the same time, she hinted at a new bond with her uncle and noted, "In Season 2, the settings become more varied and there are more action tools. It will also be interesting to see new characters appear in large numbers and how new relationships are formed," teasing a broader world and more spectacular scenes.
'The Shopping Mall of the Killer Season 2' is a stylish action series in which Jian (Kim Hye-jun), now the new head of the shopping mall after a harsh handover, launches a full-scale counterattack with the returned Jin-man (Lee Dong-wook) against the Babylon Global forces. The cast includes Lee Dong-wook, Kim Hye-jun, Jo Han-sun, Geum Hae-na, Kim Min, Jung Yoon-ha, Hyunri, Masaki Okada, and Lee Tae-young. The series is written by Hojin Ji, who wrote the first season, and directed by Kwon Lee. It is scheduled to be released on Disney+ in July.
