[Sportschosun Reporter Jo Ji-young] Disney and Pixar's animated film "Toy Story 5" (directed by Andrew Stanton and Makenna Harris) surpassed 1 million moviegoers just eight days after its release.

According to the Korean Film Council Integrated Computer Network, "Toy Story 5" had drawn a cumulative 1,022,541 viewers as of 7 a.m. on the 24th. That is a faster pace than "Project Hail Mary," this year's top-grossing foreign film, which crossed the 1 million mark on its 11th day in theaters. The result once again underscores the enduring strength of the legendary franchise, which has been loved across generations.

In particular, "Toy Story 5" is resonating with audiences of all ages by highlighting the unchanging value of friendship and connection in a rapidly changing world, along with sincere support for one another.

It has maintained a 98% score on CJ CGV's Golden Egg Index and a 9.6 rating on Naver from actual viewers, whose heartfelt reactions are driving word of mouth.

"Toy Story 5" follows Jessie, Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the other toys as they reunite for an unpredictable journey after the arrival of Lilypad, a smart tablet that becomes Bonnie's new friend and brings an unprecedented crisis. Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack and Greta Lee provide the voices, while Andrew Stanton, who helped plan the previous film, and Makenna Harris, who produced "Elemental," directed the movie.
